Skikda city

Rusicada, bestowed with this ancient name by the Phoenicians, is a city that whispers tales of history along the eastern Algerian coastline. Its expanse, spanning 4,137.68 square kilometers, unfolds from the eastern shores of Marsa to the embrace of Oued Zhour in the west, nestled at the feet of the Collo massif. Here, the land is a canvas painted with beaches of fine sand, citrus orchards laden with oranges, mandarins, and lemons, strawberry fields, and the rich harvest of olive oil and the daily bounty of the sea.
In the post-independence era, Skikda underwent a transformative journey, evolving into a vital industrial hub with ports that proudly stand among algeria's main maritime gateways. Yet, this progress came at a cost to some of the once-pristine beaches. Larbi Ben M'hidi (Jeanne d'Arc Beach) to the east and the picturesque beaches of Stora to the west experienced a reduction in their splendor due to the establishment of the petrochemical complex and the port's expansion.
Amidst this complex tale of development, S- Akacha beach, nestled in the municipality of Marsa, remains a piece of earthly paradise, albeit touched by the passage of vandals. The narrative would be incomplete without a mention of Oued Tangi, a region steeped in history through its roman sites. Equally captivating is the beach of Oued Bibi in Tamalous, perched 700 meters above the mediterranean, revealing yet another corner of paradise.
Venturing westward, the Great Beach in Aïn Zouit, approximately 20 km from Skikda, emerges as an enchanting spectacle. With a breathtaking panorama, it has become a favored haven, evident in the throngs of summer visitors it attracts. Adding to this coastal charm is the bay of Tamanart, a pearl nestled 15 km from Collo, inviting all who seek the allure of untouched beauty.
